If you’re wondering if there’s a story behind the name ‘CarinaScotland’ here it is! Have you ever tried thinking of a name for a website?? It nearly did my head in… Like many things, I now can’t remember exactly how I came up with it and yet once I thought of it, it wouldn’t go away!

Carina is a constellation in the southern sky. Its name is Latin for the keel of a ship, and it was formerly part of the larger constellation of Argo Navis (the ship Argo) until that constellation was divided in three.

I like the symbol of the keel; it’s the first step in the construction of a ship and provides the strength around which the hull is built. Once the ship is launched it gives stability, and converts sideways force into forward movement.
